Emergency preparedness is the responsibility of everyone.

Please acquaint yourself with the suggested procedures by selecting the links from the list at the left.

We will add to this list as the Emergency Management Committee progresses with their plan.

To all Point Venture Residents (May 18, 2008),

I am writing this email because your village needs volunteers to support our emergency management committee (EMC). The EMC provides leadership and direction in the event a natural or man made disaster were to strike in our community. I accepted the role of the EMC coordinator because I know that a well organized EMC helps to keep our family and neighbors safe in the event of an emergency. Please consider volunteering to be part of the EMC. I also ask that you forward this email to other citizens within Point Venture.

1. What is needed? Your time and talents.

2. How much time will it take?

* Initially I would like to hold monthly meetings as we begin to form the new committee and cover some critical items (i.e. Annual review of the EMC operating procedures).
* Some additional time may be spent addressing actions in between meetings and/or preparing for tabletop exercises.
* Fortunately for Point Venture the previous EMC lead and committee members have done an excellent job preparing our operating procedures and creating a strong foundation for future EMC members. Over time I would like to limit recurring meetings to every other month or possibly once per quarter. This will be determined by what is needed to best meet the needs of the village residents.

3. Why is the EMC important?

* The EMC develops and practices operating procedures designed to provide leadership and direction to the community in the event of a natural or man made disaster
* The EMC maintains requirements set by the federal government which qualifies Point Venture for federal grant money.

4. How can I volunteer? Reply to me via this email. I would like to have the next meeting before the end of the month. The first few people that contact me will also be able to help me set the final date for the next meeting.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email, forward it to others, and hopefully make the decision to come to the next meeting and learn more about being a part of the EMC.

Thanks,

Jeff Warneke
