1. One copy of the Application for a place on the Point Venture General Election ballot. It has to be filed in my office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday August 24, 2015. Municipal elections the first day for filing is July 24, 2015.
There is no filing fee. This deadline is due to the filing time frame with Travis County for ballots.
To file for candidacy, you must meet the following qualifications: - shall be a citizen of the United States; - shall be 18 years of age or older on the commencement of the term filled at the election; - shall be a qualified voter, and shall have resided continuously in Texas for 12 months and in the Village for 6 months immediately preceding filing deadline; - shall not have been convicted of a felony for which he/she has not been pardoned or had his/her civil rights restored by other official action. Texas Election Code 141.001.
2 & 3. One copy each of the Appointment of Candidate’s Campaign Treasurer (Form CTA) and the Form CTA Instruction Guide. This form is to be filed in my office at the same time as the above application. Note modified reporting section on the form, if you are interested. Also, note statement that must be signed regarding nepotism law.
4. November 3, 2015 General Election Calendar.
If you decide to file for a place on the ballot for this election, I will provide you with the Code of Fair Campaign Practices subscription form, filing forms and information on campaign finance reports and regulations, and Political Advertising Information.
Positions opened are: Mayor & Two Council, these are two year terms.
The Village would like to encourage the residents to get involved with their Village.
The duties of the Village Secretary are limited to accepting and filing the various applications, affidavits and statements, and noting the date and time of fining thereon. The Village Secretary is not expected to judge or comment upon the timeliness of sufficiency of reports filed.
